These Base Metal Tickets were Authorized to be struck at Calcutta Mint in year 1757, they were introduced to super cede the cowry shell as a means of payment to the collies employed in building the fortification of Fort William, The full Range of Denomination is not known but probably 1 Anna, 6 Pice or ½ Anna, 3 Pice or ¼ Anna were minted, these are the First Copper Coins Issued By E.I.C.
