Gurjara Prathiharas, Bhoja I, Silver Dramma, 4.05g, Obv: King standing to right assuming the face of a boar thereby representing the Adivaraha (Avatar of Vishnu), His left leg on a lion to right (out of flan), A circular orb (Earth?) in front, Rev: Legend in Devnagari reading in two lines as “Shrimada(di)/Varaha”, Indo-Sassanian fire altar below, Decorations around, It has been suggested that the lion below the foot of Adivaraha represents the Rashtrakutas who were enemies of the Pratiharas. Very fine.
