Hiranyakas of Rayalaseema/South-Central Karnataka, Anonymous, Square Lead, 8.32g, Obv: A circular punch of Bull standing facing right; Partially visible Brahmi legend “(….)bhata putrasa Vasiti(putrasa)” From 7 to 12 o'clock, Rev: Square bordered square punch of a tree and a ten-arched hill surmounted by a crescent, with river line below, and four dots inside the crescent. The above coin is from a 2020 hoard of Hiranyaka lead coins found in Anantapur region. Out of about 25 inscribed coins, only about 6 had visible legends with Horse symbols and rest were effaced. This is the only known inscribed Bull type coin of the hoard other than the one that was uninscribed. This is believed to be the issue of higher official of the Satavhanas. Unpublished and one of the finest specimens known till date.
