Abu’l Fazl’s in the Ain-i Akbari, 'Darb' refers to the denomination of 1/2 Rupee. In the 47th year of his reign, Akbar is known to have issued a series of coins from Agra with the denominational terms included in the legend. The design of this coin certainly attempts to follow the trend of the Agra issues, with its superb execution, elaborate borders and eight-pointed star enclosing the reverse legend - in spite of the fact that the denomination appears to be wrong.
