Eastern Chalukyas of Vengi, Vishnuvardhan VI or later, Uninscribed Alloyed Copper, 1.56g, Obv: Stylized lion standing with gaping mouth, small dagger above, Rev: Goddess seated cross-legged, flanked by two standing human figures, which appear to be bathing her (Unpublished in major publications). Extremely fine, extremely rare.
The reverse depiction is very interesting as it represents the ‘Abhisheka’ of Lakshmi scene, but with human attendants replacing the more familiar elephants. Although highly stylized, the representation is remarkable for its deviance from the norm.
