Nolambas of Nolambavadi, Jagadekamalla Immadi Nolamba Pallava Permanadi, Punch Marked, Uniface, Gold Two-Gadyana, 7.42g, 58 mm, with 13 repousse punches, the coin is as broad as an adult’s palm, 1x central punch of recumbent Nandi facing right seated on a decorated pedestal, within a floral circular border, with 1x small Sun & Moon symbol punch. 12x circumfluent punches bearing Kannada letters “Sri I mma di (ra) No La mba Naa raa ya Na” starting from 10 O’clock position on the outer periphery on obverse. Pleasing specimen with clearly formed punches. Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. The Nolambas were one of the significant political powers of South India with their initial capital at Chitradurga. They shifted their capital to Hemavathi subsequently and ruled for nearly 300 years. They remained mostly a significant feudatory dynasty and with a turbulent ruling.
