Shah Alam, Gold Mohur, 11.00g, Dar al-Mulk Kabul Mint, AH 1121, RY 3 (KM# A356.19). Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Once again the tribes raised to revolt. Aurangzeb appointed Shah Alam to the Governorship of Kabul in 1698 AD and he was assisted by Nasir Khan, a former Jagirdar of Jamrud, as his deputy. Shah Alam kept the various local tribes under Mughal control with his help. Later on Nasir Khan was given full responsibility of governing Kabul. At the time of the death of Aurangzeb, Shah Alam was at Kabul, from where he launched his bid for power against his brother Azam Shah. When he was successfully installed on the throne of Delhi, he appointed Ibrahim Khan, the son of Ali Mardan Khan as the governor of Kabul. But he failed to performed his responsibilities in proper manners so Shah Alam once again restored Nasir Khan to his post as governor of Kabul. He continued the post till his death in 1717. This coin is struck under the tenure of Nasir Khan as the Mughal governor of Kabul.
