Un-attributable South Indian Sultanate, Silver Square 1/5 Rupee, 2.72g, Un-decipher legend but appear to suggest either Abdullah Qutb Shah or Sikandar Adil Shah as the issuer named, appears to be dated (10)98 on obverse. About uncirculated, very rare in this grade.
It is difficult to say who struck these enigmatic coins, but there are various contenders like local Nayakas, appointees of the Sultans, or Maratha colonizers. A small chance also is of one of the European mercantile companies operating on the Coromandel Coast.
