Coorg, Chikka Virarajendra, Lead Medal, 27.27g, Uniface, ND, Persian legend in six lines flowed by Kannada letter “V”. Very fine+, extremely rare.
These Medals were issued by King Chikka Virarajendra of Coorg who led a brief but bloody uprising against the British in 1834 and was subsequently deposed, his kingdom annexed. Persian legend says “I have been sent in this war full of enemies and do not have any other means to survive except for thy (divine) help”.
