Post-Mauryan tribal monarchies, Pauravas, Mahindramitra, Copper 2.76g, Obv: Lion seated right; Brahmi legend “(Rano) Poravasa Mahidamitasa” above, Rev: Tree-in railing with Kharoshthi letter and indradhvaja around (Pieper# 1386). Extremely rare.
The Pauravas were probably the same people as Porus, who fought against Alexander the Great on the Jhelum river. Their coins are amongst the rarest of the so-called 'tribal' issues.
