Eastern Chalukyas, Kubja Vishnu Vardhana, Alloyed Copper, 3.21g, “Vishnukundin” type, Obv: Maned Lion standing with one paw raised, with tail curled on the back, facing right; Pallavi Brahmi legend “Vishama Siddhi” above, Rev: Shrivatsa symbol between two lamp stands, enclosed in rayed circle. (Similar to MCSI 184-185). Extremely fine, extremely rare. 'Vishamasiddhi', meaning the one who keeps succeeding even against adversities, was a title adopted by Vishnuvardhana, who was appointed as the governor of Vengi by his brother the Chalukya emperor Satyashraya Pulakesi. He was responsible for carving out an independent ‘Eastern’ Chalukya kingdom which lasted for nearly 600 years.
