Abdul Rauf Diler Khan, Silver Rupee, 11.43g, Azamnagar Mint, in the name of Farrukhsiyar, fixed RY 6. Extremely fine, very rare.
This particular variety of ‘Azamnagar rupees struck under the Nawabs of Savanoor, has two curious features on reverse: the word ‘Sanah’, between the letters ‘Lu’ and ‘S’ of the word ‘Julus’, and the word ‘Nagar’ inscribed twice, in middle as well as bottom lines. The reason behind this is not yet known, but it is possible that the coins are struck at a mint other than ‘Azamnagar, with a pseudo-mint name.
