Satavahanas, Vasithiputa Siri Vijaya Satakani, Silver Drachm, 2.25g, “Portrait” type, Obv: Bust of king with curly hair to right, wearing large ear ornaments and a jewel on the head, Brahmi legend “Raño Vasithiputasa (Siri Vija)ya Satakanisa” around, Rev: Dynastic emblem composed of six-arched hill, sun, crescent, modified 'Ujjain' symbol and wavy line; Southern Brahmi legend “…Vahittiputaku Hiri Vijaya…” around. About extremely fine, extremely rare. Drachms of Vijaya Satakani are amongst the rarest of the 'portrait' type silver coinage issued by the Satavahanas. The style and comparison of the variety here makes it clear that Vijaya Satakani was in all probability a short-lived predecessor of Yajña Satakani.
