Archaic Silver Punch Marked, usually attributed to Avanti Janapada, Upper Chambal- Kali Sindh valley region, Karshapana standard, 3.21g, “Nagda Hoard” type, Uniface, Four symbols, ABCD configuration- 1. Elephant facing right, 2. Large Nandipada between two diamonds 3. For crescents around a circle, 4. large Treskelis surrounded by diamonds and crescents on obverse (Rajgor series 22). Extremely fine, extremely rare.
The coins discovered in the Nagda hoard were distributed through the late Shailendra Singh Sharma and published by Dr S K Bhatt. They constitute a very early series of 4-symbol coins with ABCD configuration, found to the West of the Yamuna-Gangetic divide.
