The area around Ayodhya was ruled by kings with names ending in Sena, Varma and Mitra suffixes. Internal chronology suggests Varma kings to be earliest, followed by Senas and lastly by Mitras which issue coins parallel to the Kushans. Jayavarman is a new addition to the repertoire of these rulers.
