Gangas of Talakadu, Anonymous, Gold 1/4 Fanam, 0.09g, Obv: Ornate Elephant standing, facing to right, Rev: “Sri / Bhu” written in Kannada. Very fine, extremely rare. Elephant quarter fanam with title written on the reverse is never come across so far. The Gangas split into two branches around later 8th century CE and the above quarter fanam was issued by one of the two collateral branches. Due to limited space, only first three letters are seen and the remaining letters are off the flan.
