Gwalior Mint, Silver, Rupee, issued the under occupation of the Rana of Gohad, in the name of Shah Alam II, AH 1195/23; mintmark ‘pistol’ above ‘Julus’ on reverse (KM 5.2). A small defacement on obv otherwise About UNC, Extremely Rare. During the 1st Anglo-Maratha War, the Jat Rana of Gohad sided with the British to avenge of his long-standing rivalry with the Marathas, in particular Mahadaji Sindhia of Gwalior. He took possession of Gwalior fort and held it for almost two years, during which this rare coin was struck.
