Ghiyas ud din Muhammad Damghan Shah, Gold, 11.96 g, Tanka, Daulatabad Mint, AH 715 in words in the margin on obv (Rajgor# 2939; G&G# MD12). Extremely Fine for the type, Great Rarity. Damghan Shah used the royal title of Sikandar al Sani (the Second Sikandar), imitating the coins of Muhammad Shah Khilji, the Sultan of Delhi. He further used the titles meaning Right Hand of the Caliphate, Helper of the Leader of the Faithful, and so on. His gold coins, and those of the Madura Sultanate are exceedingly rare and only a handful are known. The present coin is an immaculate condition with complete margin on obv citing the year of issue and the mint name, Daulatabad, which should not be confused with the town in Maharashtra but the new name of Madura itself.
