Feudatories of the Chalukyas of Kalyana, Gold Punch marked Gadyana, 3.64g, uniface, with 9 punches, 5x lion to right, 2x Kannada letter Shri, 1x Hanuman running to right & 1x Kannada legend “Sagaja..?”. Extremely fine, probably unpublished, very rare.
While the legend on the coin gives little help to attribute it the punch of the Hanuman might suggest this is an early issue of one of the Kadamba dynasties ruling in North Karnataka as feudatories of the Chalukyas of Kalyana.
