Punch Marked Coins, Magadha Janapada, Silver Karshapana, 3.30g, Obv: Five symbol soin, ABCDE pattern. Three Human figures i.e. two males and a female punched with separate punches, Tree in Railing and Elephant over a Srivatsa/tortoise (Gpt/Hdkr# S-VII, Var-586). Extremely fine, very rare.
This is a unique series of Magadha that does not depict Sun and Six Armed Symbol, the hall-marks of Magadhan punchmarked coinage. This extra-ordinary feature suggests these issues being from some particular mint and/or disruptions in political lineage of later Mauryas, hence extremely important from historical view point.
