About uncirculated, extremely rare. In 1885-1886, the government of Indore appears to have experimented with a number of designs for its coinage. In all probability these variations had to do with introduction of mechanization in coin manufacture. Some of the designs must have had very short runs judging by surviving examples – the coin offered here is one such. In normal circumstances, such experimental designs would be classified as ‘patterns’, but in most cases the Indore government appears to have actually released the coins in circulation as indicated by their condition.
