Punch Marked Coins, Erich Janapada, Silver ½ Karshapana, 1.64g, Obv: four Symbols, ABBB pattern. This unique symbol pattern is known in no other series (Mitc Anct# Vol-I). Extremely fine, extremely rare. Erich was a minor Janapada of Pre-Mauryan times, whose coins were not known till recently. The site is also known from a number of varieties of copper coinage, some varieties having the janapada name inscribed on them. Erich lied on a very important trade route connecting Kaushambi with Ujjaini and might have been a small but important trade centre in those times. Annexed by Magadha at around 330 BC.
