Punch Mark coin, Erikachha Janapada (lower Betwa river system), Silver ½ Karshapana,1.64g, Obverse has four punches in ABBB configuration – 1 x ‘six-petal lotus’ and 3 x ‘triskeli’ mark with wavy lines/crescents around. B punched thrice to make a total of four punches (not listed in Rajgor). Very fine+, very rare. Mitchiner has reported this coinage (pp.939-940) but this variety is not listed there ABBB, B configuration two designs – A & B used is not encountered on any punchmarked series of Indian sub-continent. The triskeli mark is reported on some major contemporary punchmarked coinage of that era, viz. on Kosala and might suggest some external influence of neighbouring janapadas. As such, this particular variety is very important.
