Akbar, Copper Dam, 18.91g, Kabul Mint, Obv: “Adl Kabul” counter struck in a mihrab-shaped cartouche, Rev: Traces of the same legend being stamped but the cartouche appears to be octagonal. Extremely fine, very rare. These coins appear to be struck from Suri dams intentionally effaced to remove the names of Suri rulers and then counter stamped with the cartouches. Since there was no Suri mint in the vicinity of Kabul, it is plausible that these were exported from India and stamped locally.
