Vijayanagar feudatories or Polygars, Copper Double Cash, 3.97 g, “Andhra-Tamilnadu” region (possibly Vellore), struck in the name of Sadasiva Raya, Obv: Mythical creature combining a swan’s body and a lion’s head, Rev: Crude Devanagari legend “Sri Pratapa Sadasiva Raya”. Very fine+, very rare. Mitchiner lists similar coins with a ‘Kinnara’ (man-bird) motif, but this appears to be a new type in the same series.
