Datia State, Govind Singh, Gold Medal, 40.46g, Obv: Bust of Govind Singh with inscription “FOR LOYAL AND FAITHFUL SERVICE”, Rev: State coat-of-arms, with manufacturer’s signature at the rear foot of each supporter (Struck by Spink’s, London, Mc Clenaghan 105). Plain edge with suspender & original ribbon in velvet cloth box. About uncirculated, exceedingly rare. Mc Clenaghan records no examples with intact ribbon. He also suggests that this medal could have been a part of the State Order. The description he provides for ribbons does not match with the ribbon seen here. Perhaps the ribbon variety is of a previously unknown kind.
