Punch Marked, Attributed to Avanti Janapada, Silver Karshapana, 3.13g, Uniface, four symbol type, ABCD configuration. Extremely fine, extremely rare. Coins similar to this were published from a large hoard recovered from Nagda near Ratlam, these issue appears to be restricted to a very small area within Avanti region. The style & configuration of the coins is similar to series encountered further South and the Deccan plateau in the Godavari river valley currency systems.
