Damla, Copper 1/2 Paisa, 3.46g, “Fish” type, in the name of Shah Alam II, Damla Mint, dated 1202. Very fine, very rare. Damla is a small town located to the West of Jagadri (Yamunanagar) in Eastern Haryana, not far from the Doaba region. The coins struck here were in all probability produced under nominal authority of a Sikh zamindar-ship functioning through Jagadri. Like most ‘fish’-type coins, they were produced to meet demand in small change in the late 18th – early 19th century.
