Hayat Muhammad Khan, Silver Rupee, 11.14g, in the name of Shah Alam II, Bhopal Mint, AH 11XX/ RY 28, ‘Aftabgir’ (sun shield) symbol on obverse and a Khanda (straight-bladed sword) with decorated hilt on the reverse. The choice of symbols on the coin is interesting. The Aftabgir was often considered a symbol of royalty. The sword symbol on the reverse is single-bladed which is unusual for coins of Bhopal, where a double-bladed sword, symbloically belonging to ‘Ali, the Rashidoon Caliph, is more frequently seen.
