Unattributable South Indian Sultanate, Silver Square 1/5 Rupee, 2.64g, Undecipher legend but appear to suggest either Abdullah Qutb Shah or Sikandar Adil Shah as the issuer named, appears to be dated (10)98 on obverse. Cleaned, very fine, rare. It is difficult to say who struck these enigmatic coins, but there are various contenders like local Nayakas, appointees of the Sultans, or Maratha colonizers. A small chance also is of one of the European mercantile companies operating on the Coromandel Coast.
