Satavahanas, Nasik region, Siri Satakani (c.100-50BC), Alloyed Copper, 9.75g, “Elephant” type, Obv: Elephant with raised trunk standing facing left, Brahmi legend “Raño Siri Satakanisa” engraved retrograde anticlockwise above its back. The entire motif is enclosed in a riverine border of alternating Swastikas and fishes, Rev: In a double rectangle, tree in railing to left, Ujjain symbol with one orb modified as a Nandipada to right, and a solar symbol above. Very fine, extremely rare. A charming example of the quaintly executed Elephant type coins from the Nasik region.
