Satavahanas, Newase-Paithan region, Siri Satakani (c.100-50BC), Lead, 22.05g, “Gajalakshmi” type, Obv: Goddess Lakshmi, standing on lotus, and being lustrated by Elephants on lotuses on either side, traces of legend “Raño Siri Satakanisa” above, Rev: Tree with broad leaves within a railing, two Taurines at the top and two fishes swimming around. Extremely fine+, extremely rare. Although of a slightly smaller size, this specimen is in a very good state of preservation, a feature rare amongst heavy lead coins, which can be bruised easily. The goddess is also fully visible.
