Satavahanas, Lower Tapi valley region (Prakashe), Siri Satakani (c.100-50BC), Copper, 1.28g, “Arched hill” type, Obv: Three-arched hill, Swastika to left and large taurine to right, Rev: Ujjain symbol with crescent on one orb, Brahmi legend reading counter-clockwise outwards “…(Siri) Satakani(sa)” around. Extremely fine, extremely rare. Coins of the Prakashe series are known with legends ‘Satavahana’, ‘Satakani’, Kochhiputa Satakani and Kosikiputa Satakani. Coins of Chhimuka II are absent in this series. On most coins the hill motif is topped by a triangle-headed standard. On this coin, that feature is absent but replaced with two symbols flanking the hill.
