Satavahanas, Lower Narmada valley region (Maheshwar), Siri Sati (c.50-30BC), Copper, 10.11g, “Elephant” type, Obv: Elephant standing facing left; Brahmi legend “…Satisa” below, Rev: Ujjain symbol with crescent on one orb. Extremely fine, extremely rare. Coins of this type are known to be issued by Siri Satakani and his son Siri Sati. Siri Sati’s name occurs in the Nanaghat inscription but his coins are not found in any Western Maharashtra type. This suggests his rule was limited to newly conquered regions of Vidarbha and Malwa.
