Satavahanas, Nasik region, Kochhiputa Siri Satakani, Alloyed Copper, 6.93g, “Elephant” type, Obv: Elephant standing with raised trunk facing right, amphora and modified Ujjain symbol on the back, Brahmi legend “..Kochhiputasa Siri Sata…” around, Rev: Tree with characteristic drooping leaves in a chequered railing, with dots in between, representing fruits. Extremely fine+, extremely rare in this grade. A very nice example of a Nasik type coin of Kochhiputa Siri Satakani, first published by the late Dr Shobhana Gokhale from the P D Chumble collection.
