Vaphgaon, Silver 1/8 Rupee- 2 Annas, 1.36g, in the name of Shah Alam II, date not visible, ‘floral sprig’ or ‘Tura’ as mint mark (Unlisted in M&W). Extremely fine, extremely rare. Wafgaon was a market town held as Saranjam tenure by the Holkars. The mint located here produced rupees similar to those struck at Chandwad, also under Holkars. All fractions of Wafgaon are rare and a 2-Annas coin is extremely so.
