Ancient Central Maharashtra- Vidarbha, Monarchical coinage of pre-Satvahanas period, c.200-150BC, King Kutapada, Copper, 8.53g, “Gajalakshmi” type, Obv: Goddess Lakshmi seated on Lotus, being lustrated by a pair of elephants pouring water over her from pots held in trunks, small three-arched hill to right with a river with fishes and turtles emanating from its base; Brahmi legend “…padasa” above, Rev: Bold Nandipada drawn with double lines, to its right, double circle with Shrivatsa above (Unpublished in major sources). Very fine, extremely rare. The coins of Kutapada have recently come to light and not yet been published in their entire context.
