Ancient North Maharashtra- Khandesh, Pre-Satavahana period, c. 200-150BC, Uninscribed Die struck Lead, 1.42g, Obv: A highly unusual depiction of Goddess Shri, shown in her symbolic form “Shrivatsa”, being lustrated by two human figures, standing on either side and pouring water on her with a vessel held in one hand and the other hand akimbo. The Shrivatsa rests on two small Taurines at its base, Rev: Traces of a symbol within a dotted rectangular border (Unpublished in major sources). Very fine+, extremely rare. This depiction is important with regard to the evolution of the iconography of goddess Shri or Lakshmi. Usually, when she is shown in a symbolic form, other elements in the depiction are also symbolic. But here, the incorporation of human figures brings in an interesting anthropomorphism in the scheme.
