Ancient Vidrabha, Monarchical coinage of pre-Satvahanas period, c.150-100BC, Sachabhada- Satyabhadra II, Copper, 3.88g, Obv: Lion seated facing right atop a three-arched hill, Brahmi legend “Raño Sachabhadasa” inscribed vertically to right, Rev: Elephant walking to right with trunk raised, Ujjain symbol above and a horizontal triangle-headed standard placed below its mouth. Very fine, extremely rare. Satyabhadra II was a later ‘Bhadra’ ruler than Satyabhadra I, who issued coins of completely different types, sometimes counterstriking the issues of Damabhadra. In all likelihood, Satyabhadra II was a close contemporary of Dharmabhadra, whose coins were counterstruck by Satakani. This suggests the chronological placement of Satyabhadra II was just before Satakani and he might have been a contemporary of the first Satavahana king, Simuka.
