Satavahanas, Nasik region, Kochhiputa Siri Satakani, Lead, 2.53g, “Elephant” type, Obv: Elephant standing with raised trunk facing right, amphora and an Ujjain symbol on the back, Brahmi legend “Raño Ko…tasa Siri Satakanisa” around, Rev: Tree with drop-shaped leaves in a railing, interspersed with dots representing fruits. Very fine, extremely rare. Although the legend on this coin is truncated it is most likely an issue of Kochhiputa Satakani, when compared with other coins of this ruler issued in the Nasik ‘elephant’ type. Its metal and weight is what makes it a new variety.
