Post Mauryan Monncharial, Dattas of Mathura, Ramdutta, Copper, 6.11g, Obv: Goddess Lakshmi standing facing, with Brahmi legend “(Ra)jno Ramadatasa” in a straight line above, tree and shrivatsa symbols around, all within incuse square, Rev: Stylized Elephant standing facing (Ref: BMC, pl. XXIV, 14; NOT listed in Mitchiner and Pieper). Extremely fine, extremely rare. Extremely rare type with the legend written in a straight line above Goddess Lakshmi. This is the only type in the entire Mathura series to use an incuse square die, instead of the round die seen on all other rulers. No such specimen of Ramadatta has appeared in auction.
