Satavahanas, Madhariputa Siri Pulumavi, Silver 1/8 Drachma, 0.30g, “Portrait” type, Obv: Bust of king with curly hair facing right, Rev: modified ‘Ujjain’ symbol and six-arched hill, wavy line below; Tamil-brahmi legend around (Not listed in major publications). Uncleaned, very fine, exceedingly rare. Madhariputa Pulumavi is the only Satavahana ruler whose portrait type coinage consists of fractional units struck as regular issues. It is difficult to find examples where the name of the ruler is legible. This is by far the smallest fractional unit of Satavahana portrait coins known.
