The Tambwekars were an eminent Chitpavan Brahmin Sahukar family with banking operations spread over Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. They enjoyed the patronage of the Gaekwars of Baroda and as a result held Inamdari rights to many places. The holy shrine of Ranchhod ji at Dakor was one such. Highly regarded amongst Vaishnavas, the shrine dedicated to Krishna is a preeminent religious centre in Kheda district, North-Eastern Gujarat. The temple of Ranchhod ji at Dakor was built and renovated by the Tambwekars.
