Rudrasena IV, Son of Svami Simhasena as MahaKshatrapa, Silver Drachma, 1.78g, SE Varshe XXX, Maharaja type. Obv: Bust of the king, Rev: Three-arched hill, a crescent in right field and Sun above it, one crescent in left, Brahmi legend starting 9 O'clock “Maharaja Kshatrapa Svami Sihasena Putrasa Rajno MahaKshatrapa Svami Rudrasenasya” (Fishman# 36.3.yxxx). Extremely rare.
Different from all the other Western Kshatrapa coins where the tradition was to write Rajno MahaKshatrapa, this one of the very rare types of the coins come with the legend “Maharaja Kshatrapa”. The Brahmi letter ‘ja’ of Maharaja and of Rajno is written with three lines, resembling Brahmi numeral 3. Very fine, very rare.
