Mahmud Khalji, Gold Dinar, 12.83g, AH 872, Obv: Arabic legend “Dinar Mahmud Shah al-Khalji”, Rev: Arabic legend “al-Mulk Lillah Ta’alah” and AH date in figures (G&G# G75 but wrongly attributed to Gujarat). About uncirculated, exceedingly rare. Goron & Goenka were aware of only one piece of this type on which the legend after the name of the Sultan was not clear, therefore they attributed the type to Mahmud I of Gujarat. On this coin, however, the dynastic name ‘Khalji’ is clear and thus, there is no doubt that it is a Malwa issue.
