Copper ‘Do-Dandi’ Paisa also known as ‘Dhabu’, 15.79g, struck all over Deccan during 1725 - 1825, in the name of Shah Alam II. Very fine, extremely rare.
On this variety the usual ‘Julus’ inscription on the reverse is replaced with the Devanagari legend ‘Chhatra / Pati’, much like on copper ‘Shivarai’ paisas. Coins of this particular variety are exceedingly rare and might well have been struck at a mint like Satara where the title ‘Chhatrapati’ had a more meaningful weightage. Till date, only a handful are known.
