Akbar, Copper Dam, 20.57g, Gorband (?) Mint, Ilahi Month Bahman (?), Year 48. Very fine, very rare.
The mint on this crude type of Dams was reportedly read as ‘Gorband’ / ‘Ghorband’, which is the name of a region in Afghanistan. However, comparing the style and fabric of the coins with those of Gobindpur mint, it is plausible that this is a cruder variety of that mint, but with mint-name truncated as ‘Gobind’.
