Archaic, Punch Marked, Silver Reduced 1/2 Siglos- 1/4 Shatamana standard, 2.25g, Kabul river valley, ‘Chaman Huzuri’ or ‘Shaikhan Dheri’ hoard type, usually attributed to Kamboja janapada, scyphate series, Obv: two symbols with abstract geometric patterns struck over each other, topped by a small banker’s mark, Rev: a floral symbol struck by a single die (Unlisted in Rajgor). Very fine for type, extremely rare. Coins of the Chaman Huzuri Hoard discovered in 1933, are probably the earliest coins struck in the wider Indian subcontinent. In 2007, a group of similar composition was reportedly found at Shaikhan Dheri near Peshawar. These coins are struck to the Achamaenian standard, mapped on the Indian shatamana standard. The coin here offers a unique opportunity to acquire a highly historic piece for the numismatic connoisseurs.
