Humayun, 1st reign, Silver Tanka, 10.57g, “Mintless- Fathabad” type, AH 9XX, Obv: Kalima in centre with invocation “Yarzaq Allah Man Tasha’a Ba-ghayr Hisab” within a circular border; names of Caliphs and titles around (but mostly out of flan), Rev: “Muhammad Humayun Badshah Ghazi” in circle in centre, other titles and date in margin (G&G# B958). Usual chopped mark for this type. About very fine, very area. Humayun’s campaign against the rebellious Sher Khan in Bengal and Bihar saw the simultaneous launch of two silver denominations – Tanka and Rupee. The tankas were issued from two mints: ‘Arsah’ and ‘Fathabad’. The exact location of these places is not known.
