Kushans, Kanishka I, Gold Dinar, 6.59g, with Moon God Mao, subsidiary Mint in Gandhara (probably Peshawar), late phase, Obv: King standing facing, diademed head left, with long beard, wearing round cap with ladder-like brim, flames on shoulder, cloak around shoulders double-clasped at chest with corner folds pointing left and right, wearing belted tunic, trousers, and boots, sword with curved hilt on belt, grounded spear in left hand, sacrificing with right hand over altar to left, Bactrian legend “ShAONANO ShAO KANEShKI KOShANO” around, Rev: Moon god Mao standing facing, diademed head left, crescent behind shoulders, wearing cloak around shoulders clasped at chest over belted calf-length tunic, and boots, extending right hand in benediction, left hand on hilt of belted sword and cradling scepter, Bactrian legend “MAO” to right and tamgha to left (Göbl 70.1). Very fine, extremely rare.
